The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Fatwa No. 86 of 2023 concerning Climate Change serves as a moral and legal guideline for Muslims in responding to the global environmental crisis. This fatwa emphasizes the obligation to preserve nature as part of the mandate of the caliph on earth, while simultaneously rejecting behavior that damages the environment and exacerbates global warming. This study aims to analyze the implementation of this fatwa through a case study of a Muslim community in Indonesia active in the environmental ethics movement. The research method used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review. The results show that this fatwa encourages behavioral transformation, ranging from reducing the use of single-use plastics, mosque-based waste management, to energy and water conservation campaigns. This implementation is influenced by factors such as religious understanding, support from religious leaders, and the availability of supporting facilities. However, challenges remain, such as low environmental literacy among some communities and limited funding for sustainable programs. This study recommends synergy between the MUI, the government, educational institutions, and Muslim communities to strengthen the internalization of sharia values in environmental management, so that the fatwa is not merely normative, but becomes a practical guide that contributes to real climate change mitigation.
